About Me

I am Scott Giddings and I am employed at Girls and Boys Town in Omaha Nebraska. I am also an avid runner.

I have been at Girls and Boys Town since leaving the military in 1997 and am continually in awe of the mission of the home.

It was nearly two years ago that I started wondering what running across Nebraska would be like. After experimenting with some long runs 50K - 50 miles, I decided to take the plunge and commit myself to taking on the state from the Wyoming to Iowa borders. I'll pass by two of Nebraska best known landmarks, Chimney Rock in the west and the village of Boys Town in the east, thus the Landmark Run.

    Thank You

Thank You to the following businesses that have helped to make this run a possibility.

Most Importantly my family, Stacie, Jordyn, and Kolby for allowing me this crazy weird dream. They may not always understand why or how, but they have been huge source of inspiration throughout the preparation for this run and will be constantly on my mind during.

Girls and Boys Town - Without them there would be no Landmark Run. I have been given the opportunity to do something for a place which means something to me. The cooperation and encouragement of co-workers and friends has given this run more meaning than if I had done it just for me.

John Fatte and Pro-Ware LLC (Omaha, NE) - John made an impressive donation on behalf of the Toro Soccer Club in Omaha early in the process . Because of Johns’ contribution to the run, we were able to purchase t-shirts which, when sold raised more money for the After Care program than I had anticipated would ever be possible. John insisted the donation be on behalf of the girls of the Toro Soccer Club, because it is his belief that kids need to learn the value of community service and giving back at an early age. I couldn’t agree more.

Dell Computers - Dell, generously came forward and offered to donate a laptop for use during the run. The laptop will be used to update the journal during the run. When the run is complete, we will donate the laptop to a deserving Girls and Boys Town graduate.

Sprint - Sprint has graciously allowed the use of a wireless modem and air time, which will enable us to have access to the internet from the road, no matter where we are. We will use this in conjunction with the Dell laptop to update the journal and keep you informed.

Peak Performance Running Store (Omaha, NE) - Imagine being approached out of the blue by a guy you don’t know. This guys says, “I’m running across Nebraska for the kids at Girls and Boys Town, would you like to donate some shoes to the run?”. Most responses might be, “We’ll think about it”, or “We’d love to but we just can’t.”. Not Mike Ewoldt at Peak Performance. He offered three pairs of running shoes and asked only one question. “What made you want to do this?”. I am certain my answer was pathetic, but I think he understands.

Ideal Images (Omaha, NE) - Donated moisture wicking shirts to wear while running and printed the t-shirts for the run. If you aren’t aware, micro-fiber GOOD, cotton BAD when it comes to exercise and hours a day of sweating. Another very useful tool.

Executive Copier Systems (Hastings, NE) - Thanks Mom and Dad. You have gone above and beyond in too many ways to mention here. The role of a parent never stops, nor does the experience. I understand that more every day with my own kids. Your love and support is unconditional and never ending.
