About Me

I am Scott Giddings and I am employed at Girls and Boys Town in Omaha Nebraska. I am also an avid runner.

I have been at Girls and Boys Town since leaving the military in 1997 and am continually in awe of the mission of the home.

It was nearly two years ago that I started wondering what running across Nebraska would be like. After experimenting with some long runs 50K - 50 miles, I decided to take the plunge and commit myself to taking on the state from the Wyoming to Iowa borders. I'll pass by two of Nebraska best known landmarks, Chimney Rock in the west and the village of Boys Town in the east, thus the Landmark Run.

    A New Web Site — 21 days

    Thursday, March 29th, 2007

After much anticipation, there is a new site with information on the Landmark Run. It can be found at:
    http://www.girlsandboystown.org/landmarkrun
The site contains information about me, the run, a map and itinerary, photos, and most importantly information about the Girls and Boys Town After Care Program and an opportunity to donate to it. While you are there […]

    Is it April 19th yet?

    Saturday, March 17th, 2007

    Quite simply, NO!
Really, it is a good thing. I wish it were April 19th, but there is plenty to be done between now and then. I just about have enough volunteers for the support vehicle. There are still some logistics to be ironed out, namely, where we’ll stay at the end of each day. […]

    The Itinerary is Final

    Friday, March 9th, 2007

After running through one schedule after another, I think the itinerary is final. It’s made much easier, and more flexible with the addition of a support vehicle. Now I can go an extra couple of miles or cut it short one day if necessary and still drive to the place of rest for the night. […]

Check out the “official” logo of the first ever Landmark Run across Nebraska for the Kids of Girls and Boys Town.
Special thanks goes to Eli Hernandez for offering his time, patience and skill. I said I wanted something colorful and playful and this is what he came up with. How much better can you describe […]

Now that’s what I’m talking about!

    Tuesday, March 6th, 2007

Spring is my favorite time of year, or should I say Spring like weather is my favorite type of weather. This is what I wait all winter for. A forecast just like this. Winters grasp is slipping away and I can’t wait.

In about 4 months, I’ll be complaining non-stop about the Nebraska heat and humidity. […]

47 Days and Counting/Some Good News

47 Days and Counting and Some Good News
They days are ticking away rapidly. It is hard to imagine I will be taking off from Henry, NE on April 19th. Here in Omaha, we are weathering the remnants of what some have called the worst winter storm since 1975.

I don’t exactly consider myself an inclement weather […]

    Students Run Oakland
Not a day goes by where I don’t wonder, “What inspires me?” I suppose it is a combination of things. One example are the kids in a program called Students Run Oakland. Check out the Students Run Oakland website and the newly released film called Runners High about this group of kids

    Pretty Nervous

    Sunday, March 4th, 2007

    Yeah, I’m Scared
OK! I’ll be the first to admit that there is a lot of doubt going through my mind regarding this run. I have no clue what to expect physically or mentally, but then again, I suppose that is one of the reasons for doing it at all. I would regret not trying more […]
