About Me

I am Scott Giddings and I am employed at Girls and Boys Town in Omaha Nebraska. I am also an avid runner.

I have been at Girls and Boys Town since leaving the military in 1997 and am continually in awe of the mission of the home.

It was nearly two years ago that I started wondering what running across Nebraska would be like. After experimenting with some long runs 50K - 50 miles, I decided to take the plunge and commit myself to taking on the state from the Wyoming to Iowa borders. I'll pass by two of Nebraska best known landmarks, Chimney Rock in the west and the village of Boys Town in the east, thus the Landmark Run.

    A New Web Site — 21 days

    By Scott | March 29, 2007

After much anticipation, there is a new site with information on the Landmark Run. It can be found at:

    http://www.girlsandboystown.org/landmarkrun

The site contains information about me, the run, a map and itinerary, photos, and most importantly information about the Girls and Boys Town After Care Program and an opportunity to donate to it. While you are there take time to read about the history of Girls and Boys Town from it’s humble beginnings in December 1917, when Father Flanagan opened the home at its first location, 25th and Dodge Street in Omaha to its move 10 miles west of Omaha to Overlook Farm in 1921, where it still sits today as the Village of Boys Town.

I am proud of where I work and what it stands for. Many children have been given opportunities for better lives and futures because of Girls and Boys Town. That is why this run means so much to me. Please take a look around and consider a donation to Girls and Boys Towns After Care Program. You’ll be glad you did.

    Thanks,

    Scott
