Pretty Nervous

Yeah, I’m Scared
OK! I’ll be the first to admit that there is a lot of doubt going through my mind regarding this run. I have no clue what to expect physically or mentally, but then again, I suppose that is one of the reasons for doing it at all. I would regret not trying more than anything. One of my “tactics” early in the process was to open my big mouth to anyone who would listen, which would in turn leave me with no choice but to go for it.
Thanks to my mom Jane, the word is being spread outside the cozy confines of Girls and Boys Town. She and several of her Hastings High School classmates have been catching up via the web and she just happened to mention to one my plans for the run. Not long after, I received an e-mail from Ron volunteering to put me up for a night on night four of my run. He is even willing to drive out of his way to pick me up on the route and drop me off again the next morning. He is right! I will be looking forward to a good bed. It sounds like roads around Ash Hollow and Windlass Hill will present quite a challenge.
By the way, I have no pride. While I am perfectly content to camp when necessary, I’ll certainly accept a roof over my head if anyone else wants to volunteer.
Training is going well. I putting in plenty of miles where possible. I have spent far too much time at Prairie Life this winter and would be considering turning in my badge of toughness if it weren’t for my weekend runs at the lake and last weekends Psycho Wyco 50K (one tough run) trail run in KC. I do like the treadmill though. It is definitely helpful as a speed moderator and keeps me from getting too ambitious. Soon, I will be putting the stroller to use and trying to get used to pushing it around. Maybe I should get a doll to put in there so I don’t look too nuts.
I’ll try to begin updating this a little more frequently now that the proverbial ball is gaining momentum.
Thanks to everyone for their support!
